let it snow, let it snow, let it snow…in mississippi, that is.

by Nicole on Feb.15, 2010, under News

that’s right kids, you heard me. as of last friday, mother nature decided to drop pearls of snow flurries in our midst. lo and behold, it was a winter wonderland. in mississippi! do you know the last time i saw snow? actual snow snow? it was in new york, but here? in mississippi? i hadn’t seen snow like that since i was in high school! it was beautiful. the tops of houses were covered in white, trees, flowers, cars, streets, all snow. it was fantastic. but of course, the world didn’t come to an end.

when there are snow days, the world keeps going. funny how that plays out, huh? caitlin and i were able to do some editing for the big event i’m putting on in march. we had another dance rehearsal, to which, i kid you not, all my dancers showed up. we’re making great progress. you know, after this, i think we’re all going to disney world. not really, but if it was my choice, caitlin and i would be packing our bags and heading straight to epcot to take pictures with mickey, see as many shows as possible, and eat ourselves stupid from all the good food. i don’t care what anybody says, disney world is the happiest place on earth. yeah, i said it!

just a reminder, i’m putting on a fundraising event on march 27th at the auditorium in jackson. i’ve put up posters all over town and then some, and the fun hasn’t stopped. for example,  i’ve got a stopped-up nose from all the fun! what says fun better than a stopped-up nose?

rehearsals are going very well and the days seem to get shorter and shorter. there’s still tons to do, and i keep forgetting that i’m only one person. sometimes i wish i’d been born with ten arms, so i could do as much multi-tasking as possible. think about it: five sets of hands to pick as many boogers as you want…i’m sure i won’t hear the end of this from my mother when i get home… but, as they say, not to worry! today is a new day, and by george, i think this day is going to end with me going to the rodeo, or so i hope! look, you don’t go to the rodeo for the rodeo, you go to the rodeo for the same reason you go to the fair…to watch everybody there. see, we here in the south have a saying: the taller the hair, the closer to god. and trust me, there’ll be plenty of women with tall hair at the rodeo. yeeeehaw!

i apologize for the delay, but then again, you all understand my crazy busy life. i still haven’t seen the entire jim henson exhibit here in town, or finished my memoirs, but we’ll get to that at some point. everybody thank caitlin again, for helping me type. what can i say? the girl’s my homie. have a fantastic week, and i’ll update to you soon.

the saints won! wooohoo!!!

by Nicole on Feb.08, 2010, under News

the saints won, it’s my brother’s birthday, and my grandmother actually made him a cake–with the help of my grandfather. okay, so he’s the one who took out the ingredients, put them in the bowl, stirred them all together and put the thing in the oven, but…she still made the cake! laugh…

this is turning out to be a pretty incredible week, and it’s only monday. last week, yours truly turned 27. i’m not a baby anymore. then again, i don’t think i’ve been a baby for quite some time now. i’ve been crazy busy because, as you know, when you have a birthday you don’t just celebrate the day of, but for the whole week. and buddy, have i celebrated! i ended up working a lot of the week, but i couldn’t be happier. and today, in therapy, i did a turn–no hands, full-out ballet turn. could not be happier.

well kids, valentines day is right around the corner, and i hope everybody has a good one. after all, it’s still a holiday! “love is in the aaaair, everywhere you look around…..”

long time right?

by Nicole on Jan.26, 2010, under News

Just when you think I fell off the face of the earth, I prove the theory wrong. The last couple of weeks have been, well, crazy. I am putting together a charity event promoting arts in education along with my new therapy and training with Eclesius. So things haven’t been boring.

Right now I’m able to squeeze in viewing time on the television. My brother has played football for as long as i can remember, and I still don’t know the logistics of the game. And yet, since the Saints have been winning, all I can focus on are the plays. Who stands where, who’s got the ball, who’s running it, and what’s the final score? I love it. Amongst all this craziness I’ve been able to spend some quality time in front of the television and embrace football. With the Saints winning this past Sunday, the best way I can sum it up, in the words of Caitlin, “I got a little teary-eyed.” For those of you close to Louisiana and Mississippi, and anyone else who’s a Saints fan, you can understand how exciting this season has been. The Saints have managed to bring us all together, and I give them my blessing for the Superbowl.
WHO DAT!!!

As I said I’m preparing for this charity event, which you’ll be learning more of once publicity is secure. And if you’re unable to attend, not to worry, I’m sure that there will be some great footage on YouTube.

Caitlin and I were able to visit her old high school and make sure the kids carried this idea of hope. So tomorrow, second verse, same as the first, we’re doing it all over again. I love talking to kids, because unlike business groups, i can say ‘burp’ and ‘fart’ and get away with it! What am I gonna do, go to the principal’s office? I had a permanent seat when I was in school, but I had to give up that seat once i graduated.

Funny as it may seem, my throat is getting sore from all of the phone calls I made this afternoon, along with all the laughter that Caitlin and I shared over funny comedy. I’ll leave you now so I can be on my A game tomorrow. Go Saints!
