tick tock…
by Nicole on Mar.10, 2010, under News
We’re getting close! That’s right, you heard me. The date for this wonderful event is quickly approaching. Caitlin and I figured it out: we’re having a spring break after this. So anybody out there who wants to give us a vacation, just let me know… Our destinations are different, but they’re destinations. Send Caitlin somewhere hilly and green with lots of cows and horses and wrap-around porches and happiness. For myself, I just need an open cabana, a coconut to drink out of, sun, sand, and ocean (only in a perfect world).
So far, this week has been pretty exciting! We hit up the television station and the radio station. All our multi-media avenues have been covered. So, if you live in the area and happen to hear/see my commercial, I hope you enjoy! Monday, my therapists from Quest came over to my house to start making preparations for independent living. Yay!! It’s coming, my friends, slowly–but it’s coming.
An old friend from the past is in town. Which is funny, because it’s as if nothing had ever changed. Oh, the dynamics of friendship! The next two weeks are going to be crazy, so please don’t be offended if i don’t post anything. I promise to give you all the wacky details in due time. Thanks again!

I promise I’m alive…

Busy busy busy busy! If this is what worker bees feel like, then my hat’s off to them!
Well, chirruns, the fun never stops in MarquezLand. Slowly but surely, we’re putting all the puzzle pieces together for the event on March 27th. F.Y.I., in case you didn’t read the other entries, I’m having a fundraising event here in town! It’s my thank-you back to the community for being so good to me. The event is to promote arts in education, something I’m very passionate about. I don’t care what anybody says, finger-painting makes a child’s day happier. The event will be hosted at the Auditorium on Duling Street. It will feature (drum roll please) a three-course meal, a live local art auction, AND a performance jam-packed with video, music and dance. Who could ask for anything more? Doors open at 5:30pm. Tickets can be purchased from the Parents for Public Schools website: www.ppsjackson.org
Now that I’ve done enough shameless promoting, on to the crazy life! Quest, where I’m now going for therapy, is actually unbelievable. I feel like the road I’ve been on has finally led me to this point. I am in transition to becoming independent. Fully? Who knows? Only time will tell. And, with time, it can be your best friend and your worst enemy. So again, I say: ” Things will happen when they happen.” For right now, I’m maintaining my sanity. Caitlin and I decided that after everything is said and done, we’re running away and starting our band, Crippled Meatloaf. Our first album will be coming out in the Fall of 2010. Look for it in stores, I’m sure it will be a big success. I guess you could describe our music as…punk-gospel-folk. Between my washboard skills, and Caitlin’s eccentric vocals/spoon-playing, guitar-ripping licks, we’re sure to be a hit with the kids.
I hope you all know that was totally meant to make you smile.
Anyway, Quest is going great. It’s amazing how many people see results that I’m blind to. I have to have people point them out sometimes, for me to acknowledge all the ways I’m getting better. Last week, I introduced my girls to the new Wii dance game, Just Dance. A dance game that, sadly to say, blows DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) out the water! If you don’t believe me, just try it and get back to me.
The Bioness is coming along. I can’t lie, I have been a bit of a slacker due to all the commotion, but I haven’t forgotten my ol’ Bioness. In fact I’m sitting with that little lady right now. I can feel the shocks rejuvenating my muscles.
Another day is ahead, and I must say farewell. Have a great day, and I’ll update again soon.

let it snow, let it snow, let it snow…in mississippi, that is.
by Nicole on Feb.15, 2010, under News
that’s right kids, you heard me. as of last friday, mother nature decided to drop pearls of snow flurries in our midst. lo and behold, it was a winter wonderland. in mississippi! do you know the last time i saw snow? actual snow snow? it was in new york, but here? in mississippi? i hadn’t seen snow like that since i was in high school! it was beautiful. the tops of houses were covered in white, trees, flowers, cars, streets, all snow. it was fantastic. but of course, the world didn’t come to an end.
when there are snow days, the world keeps going. funny how that plays out, huh? caitlin and i were able to do some editing for the big event i’m putting on in march. we had another dance rehearsal, to which, i kid you not, all my dancers showed up. we’re making great progress. you know, after this, i think we’re all going to disney world. not really, but if it was my choice, caitlin and i would be packing our bags and heading straight to epcot to take pictures with mickey, see as many shows as possible, and eat ourselves stupid from all the good food. i don’t care what anybody says, disney world is the happiest place on earth. yeah, i said it!
just a reminder, i’m putting on a fundraising event on march 27th at the auditorium in jackson. i’ve put up posters all over town and then some, and the fun hasn’t stopped. for example, i’ve got a stopped-up nose from all the fun! what says fun better than a stopped-up nose?
rehearsals are going very well and the days seem to get shorter and shorter. there’s still tons to do, and i keep forgetting that i’m only one person. sometimes i wish i’d been born with ten arms, so i could do as much multi-tasking as possible. think about it: five sets of hands to pick as many boogers as you want…i’m sure i won’t hear the end of this from my mother when i get home… but, as they say, not to worry! today is a new day, and by george, i think this day is going to end with me going to the rodeo, or so i hope! look, you don’t go to the rodeo for the rodeo, you go to the rodeo for the same reason you go to the fair…to watch everybody there. see, we here in the south have a saying: the taller the hair, the closer to god. and trust me, there’ll be plenty of women with tall hair at the rodeo. yeeeehaw!
i apologize for the delay, but then again, you all understand my crazy busy life. i still haven’t seen the entire jim henson exhibit here in town, or finished my memoirs, but we’ll get to that at some point. everybody thank caitlin again, for helping me type. what can i say? the girl’s my homie. have a fantastic week, and i’ll update to you soon.
